Startup Journey - making Eligere: update August 8 2025

Another week has pasted of me working on Eligere - a macOS application that serves as default web browsers and gives you ability to configure rules of how and which browser to use based on url you’re opening, source application and more.

Last week was not about development, but more about marketing the app. And there are 3 main achievements for myself I did:

  • I launched completely new version of the website: https://eligere.dev. I tried to focus more on two things: give a better explanation of what the app does right at first screen; and changed the features list trying to make it better. Also, the style I am using now is easier to read in my perspective.

  • Started to be more active on Reddit. I tried to create several posts about the topic of working with several web browsers. I wanted now just promote my app only, but other solutions as well. But, probably because my Reddit account is relatively new - these posts were filtered, so maybe next time. The one that promotes actual discussion seems online and got few comments

  • Last, but not least - I tried to share my app directly with 3 people I found on X or YouTube. I did not want to do any ads or ask people to promote it, I just wanted to share it with others so maybe somebody will find it useful.

I know it might sound like nothing for an experienced person promoting and launching their products/business, but I am not that person. I am good at making software and solving technical problems, but not making products. There is a big difference.

This week is definitely a big win for me. Even if Eligere’s user base will stay just people (at least whom I know) - all the things I am doing now will help me next time. And I have more ideas to try
